Our Story

In the heart of Gaza, where the echoes of resilience resonate through every corner, a vision was born from profound loss and unwavering compassion. Our journey begins with a soul touched by the kindness of family, shattered by the brutality of conflict, yet ignited by an unyielding desire to build a brighter tomorrow.

Founded by Sabreen Alghoul and Lubna El Hissi, survivors of tragedy and champions of hope, Eden stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of love, care, and community. A dream kindled amidst personal turmoil and inspired by the memory of 50 cherished family members, including their mother, father, their 3 brothers and 2 sisters with their children and grandchildren, lost in the war of 21^st of November 2023 in Gaza by a falling bomb.

Growing up in Gaza and later immigrating to Sweden, Sabreen and Lubna carried the spirit of giving and a deep-rooted commitment to lifting the lives of those affected by adversity. On that fateful day, when the fabric of their world was torn apart by a devastating bomb, the resolve to transform anguish into action crystallized.

This orphanage is a tribute to the cherished souls – parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, grandchildren – whose kindness knew no bounds. Beloved by their community, their spirit of selflessness lives on in this haven of hope, where the dreams of orphaned children take flight.

At Eden, we aspire not merely to provide shelter, but to cultivate a nurturing environment where the laughter of children mingles with the echoes of healing. Here, those who’ve known loss find solace in each other’s company, forging bonds that transcend shared pain to embrace shared dreams.

Our mission extends beyond providing a safe harbour; it encompasses a holistic approach towards nurturing these young lives, ensuring access to education, guidance, and opportunities that empower them to soar. By fostering a community that embraces both orphans and those who’ve endured similar trials, we aim to cultivate resilience, growth, and a renewed sense of belonging.
